“Poetry is a momentary stay against confusion,” Robert Frost wrote. Similarly, Olympia poet Robert Sund penned, “Poetry keeps the day from toppling over.” What do we write about – and how – that will shine a light of witness and provide us with sustenance? Coming together in community around poetry is a start. We will begin by considering poets and poems that have been beacons in dark times, as well as generate new work of our own – poem sprouts – to share and refine.
